Horenatsi

Horenatsi, lived in 5th century A.C. and accepted as the prominent figure among Middle Aegean Armenian historians, were the apprentice of Mesrob Mashdots (inventor of Armenian Alphabet) and Sahak Bartev. He completed his education in Alexandria. His work named "Badmutyun Hayots" (History of Armenians) which was prepared by the order and financial support of Prince Sahak Pakraduni, is still considered as the most comprehensive and essential source about Armenian history. When preparing his work, he benefited from Homeros and Heredot. Horenatsi is carefully studied by French, Russian and German historians and he considered as the Father of Armenian History. The manuscripts of the history he wrote is now in Library of Yerevan. The first publication of the book was done in 1695 Amsterdam in Armenian text. The book has been published many times until today in Latin, Russian, French, German, Italian and English.
