DILMEN, Ibrahim Necmi

Linguist,(b. 1887, Gümülcine - Greece). He graduated from the Istanbul Universiy, Faculty of Law.(1909) Work as a teacher İs Selanik Law Shool and in some schools in İstanbul. He aslo worked in Istanbul University. He was invitec to Ankara by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, because of his essays supporting the Letter Revolution. He worked as a teacher in schools such as Ankara Music Teachers' School and Gazi Education Institute (1928). He was among the founders of Turkish Language Association. He bace the Secretary General of the Association. Because of his efforts for the language revolutions, his surname was called as Dilmen by Mustafa kemal Atatürk. He was also the representative of Burdur from 1935 until his death. He was also Turkish Language professor in Ankara Language, History and Geography Institute. He prepared a book defending the Sun Language theory of Ataürk. His books: Tarih-i Edebiyat Dersleri (2 cilt, 1922), Yeni Türkçe Dersleri (1928), Türkçe Grameri (6 books, 1930-34), Türkçe Dil Bilgisi (3 volumest, 1936), Türk Tarih Tezinde Güneş-Dil Teorisinin Yeri ve Değeri (1937), Tanzimat Edebiyatı Tarihi Notları (1942).
